Comedian Steve Trevino is coming to The Paramount in Huntington Sunday October 15th, 2023. We recently caught up with Steve via Zoom to talk about the show and more. Immediately Steve responded to me talking about how funny he is. He shared about his comedy is all stuff that truly happened in his life. So much of Steve’s act revolves around his wife, or as he refers to her on stage, Captain Evil.

Steve did want to take a little time and talk about Classic Rock. He noticed some band album covers that are on the walls behind me. That took him where age became part of the conversation. we spoke about being addressed as “Sir” or “Mister.” Steve spoke about how his nieces try to get him to stop speaking to them in their lingo.

We spoke about his show coming up at The Paramount on Sunday October 15th, 2023. Talking about the show got us into speaking about the work that goes into putting together a comedy show. Steve mentioned how his mother has video of him from about 20 years ago that he does not want to see because of how terrible he feels he was back then. His career is going very well now. Selling out shows and having literally millions of views on videos that he puts on his YouTube channel. We discussed how much he loves his work.

Steve told me about taping comedy off of HBO on VHS back in the day and watching it over and over. That made me ask Steve who the comedians were who influenced him. His immediate response was Eddie Murphy. He talked about Eddie doing his special in the leather outfit. He compared him to a Rock Star. He said seeing that at about 8 years old made him think, I wanna do that. He said he wanted to be Eddie Murphy and have the leather suit, but he realized quickly, that wasn’t him at all. He spoke about how once he started being true to himself, that the success started to come.

The conversation turned to how his comedy is relatable. Steve said that’s because we grew up in a very real era. Like many comedians this is where we hear where political correctness if often times at odds with comedy. Steve is being honest on stage. He mentioned in here, how social media is not so honest. Steve specifically said he does not do politics or religion in his show. I felt it was important to bring up how at every show, Steve will always mention and thank our military and First Responders.
