Hey Long Island, Once again, we are overwhelmed by your kindness. Like so many Long Islanders, when we heard about 6 year-old Jake Brower and his family, we knew something had to be done.
Again, it was time to ask Long Islanders to reach out and lend a helping hand for a family in need. As usual, you showed that Long Island is a very special place; it's home, a place where people like the Brower family know what it feels like to be a part of the Long Island community.
Your generous contribution and that of many other Long Islanders totaled more than $65,741.51 for the Jake Brower Fund and the donations continue to pour in! Let's hope that our efforts will assist the Brower family in getting Jake healthy so he can grow up and do great things.
Thank you for your generosity; we couldn't be more proud to have you as one of our BAB listeners.

Jake contracted a post-operative fungal infection after brain surgery called invasive Aspergillosis, which took over his brain. Jake is one of only 2 children in this country who have survived this disease. Jake has suffered several strokes and contracted Spinal Meningitis, which left him bedridden in diapers. Jake hasn't spoken in more than a year and it is doubtful if he can see.
Jake's father, John, is a NYC Police Officer. His mom, Lisa, has had to quit her job to take care of Jake 24/7. Jake came home from the hospital 2 days ago after his 41st surgery (17 of which were brain surgeries). His medical bills are estimated to be in the millions of dollars. John and Lisa are paying as many bills as possible, but they are in a desperate financial situation. They are also in danger of losing their home. They also have a daughter Alyssa who is caught in the middle of everything that's going on with Jake and their financial problems.
