Anthony Cerullo

Police Officer Anthony Cerullo heard a radio call of an 11 month old with blue lips gasping for air in Ronkonkoma. While enroute to SBU hospital, as a member of the Medical Crisis Action Team, he pulled up behind the ambulance and asked dispatch if they needed advanced life support. The ambulance immediately pulled over and he jumped in to assist the Ronkonkoma FD paramedic and EMT. The child was not breathing, only gasping, and ventilations were assisted by the EMT. Soon after the EMT stated the child had pin point pupils so he decided to give 1mg of narcan because he was showing signs of a narcotics overdose. Shortly after the child regained consciousness and began crying. Only his fast thinking, and advanced medical training prevented the tragic loss of that helpless child.

Anthony started his EMS career in 2007. Became an EMT-CC in 2009 and upgraded to Paramedic 2022. Started his law enforcement career with the NYPD in January of 2012 and moved over to Suffolk PD in October of 2016, where he patrolled Patchogue, then Sayville areas in the 5th Precinct before transferring full time to the MEDCAT unit in December 2023.

Sadly, he recently learned his one year old son has a very rare and fatal disease. The department started a Fund the First page to help him and his wife offset the medical costs. Here’s the link to donate:

Anthony, as a small way of saying thanks for all you do for the community, you will receive a $100 gift card from Moe’s Southwest Grill.
