What a sight for sore eyes!
For the first time in nearly a decade, I saw Geddy Lee grace a stage. Only this time, his trusty Fender took a back seat to a brand new book: “My Effin’ Life”.
With Paul Rudd as the guest interviewee (excellent and fitting choice!), Dirk had me and all other Rush nerds at the Beacon Theater in the palm of his hands for two hours. It was an evening of generally good cheer, lots of humor and plenty of poignancy. It was especially touching seeing Geddy get choked up whenever the interview turned to his late Rush comrade, Neil Peart. I almost lost it myself when Geddy talked about the last time he spent with Neil before he passed away.
And as a wonderful added bonus, Geddy debuted two ‘new’ tunes! “Gone” and “I Am,...You Are”, which were holdovers during his sessions for “My Favorite Headache” were revisited while writing his book and re-worked. They will be on the audiobook for “My Effin’ Life”, and Geddy did say he will release both tunes.
The creative juices are clearly flowing again! 2024 could mark a most excellent return for Geddy (and dare I say Alex) to play new music together.
Fingers very tightly crossed!
