Billy F Gibbons will be releasing his third solo album “Hardware” on June 4th 2021.
Back in March 2021 Billy F Gibbons announced the coming of the album with the release of it’s first single and video for the surf rock song “West Coast Junkie”.
“Hardware” was recorded in a desert studio with the core band of Billy with guitarist Austin Hanks and drummer Matt Sorum formerly of Guns N’ Roses and The Cult, who also served as one of the album’s producers.
Hanks and Sorum were the band that toured with Billy behind his second solo album “The Big Bad Blues”.
Billy talked about how they work together with some similarities to ZZ Top.
We also discussed Billy’s “Under The Hood” behind the scenes video features for the album.
Gibbons mentions how this album is more of a rock affair with the desert influencing some tracks, like the spoken word of “Desert High”.
We also had a chance to talk about the most recent single “My Lucky Card” and it’s barroom jam video.
Billy talks about being anxious to get back out on the road playing live.
When asked after the Afro Cuban feel of his first solo album “Perfectamundo”, the Blues of his sophomore solo outing “The Big Bad Blues” and the Rock of “Hardware” what is next, hear what Billy says is already germinating.
