Jesse Jones and his girlfriend Amanda McDaniel were nominated by Jesse’s mother, Mary. She said, ”Jesse is an EMT and a firefighter for the Northport Veterans Administration. He was a US Army E-6 Staff Sergeant, served as an engineer and as heavy equipment operator in Afghanistan for a year. He lives with his 3 kids, his girlfriend Amanda McDaniel who is an ER nurse (and former Marine who also served overseas), and her two sons. Amanda’s youngest son (who just turned 11 years old) was diagnosed with Leukemia on Christmas Eve 2023. Jesse is a dedicated EMT and Firefighter, dedicated father, and loves helping those in his community. Jesse and Amanda are two young, very loving, brave, amazing human beings! They work so hard for their children and community! Jesse gave us some insight on ways him and Amanda have helped the community as well. He said, “I’m an EMT for Mastic Ambulance, as well as a volunteer firefighter for Brookhaven Fire Department, a wildland firefighter, water rescue swimmer and a full time federal firefighter for the Northport Veterans Affairs Fire Department. I served 11 years as an engineer in the Army, deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and made E-6 Staff Sergeant. I’m a former police officer for the Southampton town Police Department as well. Amanda was a Marine stationed in Japan for 4 years and got out as a Corporal E-4, since she left the Corps she has dedicated her life during COVID and beyond as an ER nurse in our local community. We are a family of service and proud of it. Amanda’s family are all Nurses and EMS/Fire starting from her grandparents Emily and Robert Magnani who used to run Brookhaven Ambulance. When you speak of Brookhaven Hamlet, the name Magnani is at the center of the community, and we proudly continue their legacy.
