John Failla | Honoree for January 24th, 2025

John Failla

John Failla was an exemplary Police Officer for both NYPD and the Nassau County Police Department. John was hired by NYPD in June of 1995 and upon graduating the academy he was assigned to the 73 PCT in Brooklyn. John was a very active cop and after the tragedy of 9/11 he was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to the 108 Pct in Queens in September of 2001. John was eventually hired by Nassau County PD and he transferred departments in March of 2005. Upon graduating the Nassau Academy Officer Failla was assigned to the Third PCT. Soon after Officer Failla was diagnosed with a rare cancer from his efforts during 9/11. Surgeries and chemotherapy were successful and he was able to return to work, but he eventually retired on a disability pension. Officer Failla has relocated to Florida but has had other battles with cancer since his retirement from his actions during 9/11. Officer Failla is one of many heroes who have had to continue to battle from those horrible events on that tragic day.
