Nancy Wilson’s Heart is coming to The Paramount on June 13th, 2023. The band recently kicked off their latest tour, featuring mainly Heart music. During our phone conversation with Nancy, she mentioned that they also have fun playing covers from Paul McCartney and Wings, as well as Van Halen, during the show.
Nancy had high praise for the band’s singer, Kimberly Nicole, whom she discovered on the TV show “The Voice.” She spoke about her search for a female singer who could handle rock and perform Heart songs. The rest of the band consists of the players who were part of Nancy’s solo album “You And Me,” as well as the lineup for Heart’s 2016 and 2019 tours.
In our previous conversation, Nancy mentioned the new music she was working on, including Christmas music, acoustic tracks, and a project called “Tomboy.” Her husband suggested “Tomboy,” which involves covering songs written by her male friends. This time, Nancy shared that she has been putting a lot of work into “Tomboy.”
Nancy also pleasantly surprised me by mentioning that she is collaborating on new music with her sister Ann. She expressed genuine excitement not just about working with Ann, but also about the music itself. Nancy revealed that some of the material is reminiscent of the music Heart produced in the 70s. Nancy said working with Ann again has been a “Nice rediscovery” of their relationship.
Nancy expressed her appreciation for theaters, noting their conducive acoustics. She enjoyed the opportunity to connect more closely with audiences and make a stronger connection during shows in smaller venues. Nancy emphasized that their performances are completely live rock, with no backing tracks used at all.
