We recently spoke with some of Long Island’s best guitarists, John Petrucci, Al Pitrelli, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai (listed alphabetically).

They all have current tours.
John Petrucci of Dream Theater will be at The Patchogue Theatre November 20th, 2022 for a solo show with Long Islander Mike Portnoy on drums.
Al Pitrelli the musical director and guitarist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be hitting the road with TSO soon but will be with the West Coast version of the band and not playing in our area.
Joe Satriani brings his Earth Tour to The Beacon Theatre October 27th, 2022.
Steve Vai will play a sold out show at The Paramount in Huntington on October 30th, 2022.
Some of the conversations revolved around the old days on the Island before any of these extraordinary guitarists tasted fame.
We spoke with John Petrucci and Al Pitrelli about teaching guitar in the same music store.
Joe Satriani said to ask Steve Vai about how poorly he treated a pedal Joe had lent him.
Steve remembered the story and happily told us.
