NEFCU, a leading credit union serving all Long Island's banking needs, is proud to sponsor the Long Island Region's 2012 Special Olympics Spring Games, to be held at Huntington High School on Sunday, April 15th.   WBAB is proud to have Donna Donna hosting the Opening Ceremony which starts at 9:30am.

“NEFCU is honored to be partnering with Special Olympics to support their 2012 Spring Games, said Edward Paternostro, President and CEO of NEFCU. “Through our partnership, we hope to give the athletes, coaches and volunteers, the opportunity to continue to demonstrate their outstanding accomplishments to our community.”  

More than 400 athletes, 100 coaches, 500 volunteers, and 500 spectators from across Long Island will gather for the 2012 Spring Games. Athletes will compete in nine different sports. The sports include several track and field sports, tennis and softball.  There will also be a young athlete program for athletes ages two to seven years old.

“We are thrilled that NEFCU has partnered with us for the 2012 Spring Games,” said Diane Colonna, Regional Director, Long Island Region. “It is through partnerships like NEFCU’s that allow us to provide quality sports programs and competitions for our athletes.”

Show your support for our Long Island athletes as they compete for the opportunity to move on to State-Level competition.

Anton Gerdes Jr.

Hometown: Seaford

Sports: Floor Hockey, Track & Field, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball 

Years Participating: 6 years

Jody Coutinho

Hometown: Hampton Bays         

Sports: Softball, Bowling, Bocce, Floor Hockey, Basketball, Track & Field            

Years Participating: 11 years

Maria Gruendel

Hometown: Selden                       

Sports: Nordic Skiing, Track & Field      

Years Participating: 10 years

Daniel Fletcher

Hometown: Brentwood

Sports:  Bowling, Soccer, Volleyball, Bocce, Golf, Softball, Track and Field (specializing in 100 meter run, 200 meter run and shot put),

Equestrian, Basketball and Power Lifting.

Years Participating: 13 years
