Tom was nominated by his co worker Amy Di Leo, who said, “For more than three decades, Tom Liebler of Northport has been restoring power and keeping Long Islanders safe as a lineworker on Long Island’s North Shore. If a tree falls and takes down a power line, a car hits a utility pole, or a storm causes an outage, Tom is on the scene to repair it and make the area safe.
Tom is an emergency services specialist at PSEG Long Island, which means he’s first on the scene when the power goes out, and secures the area so police and firefighters can do their jobs – first responders work together to ensure safety first.
If you don’t mind heights, enjoy working with electricity and are fine with working outdoors no matter the weather, Tom says being a lineworker is a good career. By weather and heights, he means climbing 30′ utility poles and working in a bucket 60′ up, while enduring heat and cold and everything in between. An additional hazard is traffic when Tom and his colleagues work roadside.
Tom’s favorite part of the job is helping people by putting their lights back on.
In a few weeks Tom Liebler will be celebrating 36 years as a lineworker. Please join me in thanking Tom for his decades of service.”
Tom, as a small way of saying thanks for all you do for the community, you will receive a $100 gift card from Moe’s Southwest Grill.
