Previous to the pandemic a group of creatives came up with an idea to mix classic rock opera and classical music together and create something new. That creation is Rock Me Amadeus. The driving forces of this idea are Tony Bruno and Alyson Cambridge. You may remember Tony as the guitarist for the Long Island band Swiftkick or Saraya. You have seen him play with Joan Jett and Black Hearts or Rihanna or a host of other artists he’s worked for as a player composer and writer. He’s worked in television, movies and commercials. He’s on top of his game and makes this Long Islander proud.
Alyson is an accomplished opera singer and actor and model. She’s got quite the resume that includes stints on Broadway, the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and many others. The Washington Post said she is “radiant, vocally assured, dramatically subtle and compelling and artistically imaginative.” She has starred in such productions of Carmen, Porgy and Bess, Showboat, Rocktopia, and many others. She is a gem in music’s crown.
These two came up with this idea and ran with it and continued through the Covid nightmare. But to complete making this musical smoothie they need some edginess. Enter Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, who needs no introduction. I’ll refer to as the “Metal Monolith” because he’s everywhere.
