Joe Rock and WBAB have teamed up with Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue & Adoption to help find your Pawfect Pet!
Each Wednesday, Joe will choose a Pet of the Week and will highlight that pet! A new pet will be chosen and featured each week!

Meet Toby! This 11 year young Shih Tzu is living proof that love, loyalty, and companionship only grow stronger with age. This sweet little gentleman was heartbreakingly close to being surrendered to a kill shelter-but thankfully, he was given a second chance when we stepped in just in time.
Toby is everything people adore about the breed: gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to his person. He has a calm, easygoing nature and a quiet charm that makes you fall in love within minutes. Whether he’s curled up beside you on the couch or following you softly from room to room, Toby just wants to be near someone who cares.
After everything he’s been through, Toby deserves a soft landing—a peaceful home where he can finally relax, feel safe, and be cherished the way he always should have been. He’s past the puppy chaos and full of the kind of steady, comforting companionship that only a senior dog can offer.
Senior dogs like Toby are often overlooked, but they have so much love left to give. He doesn’t need much-just a warm bed, a gentle routine, and a kind heart willing to give him the life he almost lost.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be endlessly grateful and devoted, Toby is waiting to meet you.
Save-A-Pet is a 501c3 no-kill shelter and have rescued and re-homed over 40,000 companion animals. We rely solely on donations. Save-A-Pet is located in the heart of Long Island in Port Jefferson Station. We have a low-cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinic. At Save-A-Pet’s Long Island animal shelter, we believe it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats and dogs, and to place them in loving permanent homes. We provide spay and neuter services for Long Island feral cats and any necessary medical care for pets. We work diligently to educate the public, especially children, on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.
If you are looking to adopt a pet, please view the dogs and cats at our Long Island adoption shelter and then fill out our online adoption application at saveapetusa.org
