According to a Twitter post by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Nogales director, Michael W. Humphries, said that on August 23, CBP officers were conducting an inspection when one of the officers thought the crutches were “excessively heavy.”

KSAZ said that a K9 officer and an X-ray helped to determine the reason why the crutches were so heavy. It was because of what was inside of them — thousands of fentanyl pills.

No further information has been released, including any arrest information.

Humphries also shared an update on a previous drug seizure in a tractor-trailer on Wednesday that went through the same port on August 22. He stated that after they examined the powder a bit more, it was determined that a 104-pound substance that was seized was fentanyl powder. It brought that total seizure to 1.27 million fentanyl pills and 104 pounds of fentanyl powder. Originally, the powder was believed to have been cocaine.
