Police said that multiple agencies agreed Friday to temporarily suspend the flow of water into the Little Calumet River “in an attempt to get as deep into the river as possible,” WXIN reported.

A volunteer kayaker alerted police at around 8:15 p.m. that a body had been located in the river about 300 feet from the hotel, WGN-TV reported.

A dive team responded to the scene and pulled the body from the water, WMAQ reported.
