FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A South Florida judge on Tuesday ordered rapper Kodak Black to spend 30 days in an inpatient drug rehabilitation facility.
The decision by Broward County Judge Barbara Duffy means that Black, 25, of Miramar, whose legal name is Bill Kahan Kapri, will begin his rehab on March 7, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The delay will enable the rapper to perform at the Rolling Loud concert near Los Angeles this weekend, according to the Miami Herald.
Duffy’s decision comes several days after she signed a warrant for his arrest, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
As a condition of his release, Kapri is required to take drug tests. He did not appear for his test on Feb. 3, although he did show up on Feb. 8, when he tested positive for fentanyl, according to the newspaper, which cited an affidavit filed by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Kapri’s attorney on Tuesday said that the rapper may have tested positive for fentanyl because of a mixup in a laboratory sample or in paperwork associated with the sample, according to the Herald. Bradford Cohen also told Duffy that Kapri missed the Feb. 3 test because he was out of the state, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The Miami Herald, citing a report sent to the newspaper by Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, said that troopers pulled Kapri over on July 15, 2022, in Fort Lauderdale. Troopers believed the windows of the rapper’s purple Dodge Durango “appeared to be darker than the legal limit” and the SUV’s registration tag was expired.
Troopers eventually searched the vehicle and found 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash, WPLG-TV reported.

Kapri was arrested on July 16 and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and trafficking oxycodone of less than 25 grams, according to Broward County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
He was released the following day on a $75,000 bond, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
Kapri was born Dieuson Octave in Pompano Beach, according to the television station. He grew up in the city’s Golden Acres housing projects, WPLG reported.
His breakout hit, “Tunnel Vision,” cracked the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, peaking at No. 6 in March 2017.
In November 2019, authorities sentenced Kapri to 46 months in prison for making a false statement on a federal document. In January 2021, President Donald Trump commuted his sentence, calling him “a prominent artist and community leader.”
Authorities in South Florida arrested Kapri in January 2022 on suspicion of trespassing.
